Car Insurance Question  What covers damage to your car when you wreck and it is your fault?

Physical damage coverage is what you would need on your vehicle to cover damages to your vehicle caused by an accident of which you were at-fault. Specifically in a wreck of your own making, collision coverage would be what your vehicle would need to have on it so that you could file a claim for the damages your vehicle sustained.

Collision coverage will cover damage to your car from when your car hits, or is hit by, another vehicle or object. With this type of coverage you will owe a deductible amount, which you will choose when you set up the coverage as part of your policy.

The other type of physical damage coverage is comprehensive. This type also comes with a deductible amount of your choosing and covers your vehicle for losses resulting from incidents other than collision. These incidents can include hitting an animal, glass breakage and if you vehicle is vandalized or stolen.
