Accidents, even not of your doing or being your fault, can affect your insurance rates. Every insurance company differs in the way in which they evaluate accidents, claims, driving records, etc to determine rates. What all insurance companies must do is file their rates with the state's insurance regulatory body. Some states, such as Florida, allow insurance companies to non-renew your policy if you have three or more accidents within 3 years, regardless of fault. If you did not make any claims with your own insurance company this may not be a problem but you should speak with your insurance agent to find out what your specific insurance company guidelines are regarding not at-fault accidents on your record and your insurance rates.
