Car Insurance Question  Do companies offer insurance discounts on hybrid autos? If so, can you suggest some options?

Beginning in 2005 some auto insurance companies began giving discounts to hybrid car owners. The Farmer's Insurance Group has announced a 5 percent discount in California for hybrid or alternative fuel vehicles.

If you live outside of California, it has been reported that Traveler's insurance gives a 10 percent discount on hybrid insurance. This discount only applies to certain coverages and may not be available in all states. If you are interested in finding discounts for hybrid auto insurance you should shop around and perhaps contact your state's insurance regulator to see if they have a list of insurance carriers who allow such a discount.

The Guide to Green Vehicle Online Guides is an article in our learning center that might be helpful if you are thinking of purchasing a hybrid vehicle.
