Car Insurance Question  My husband got a speeding ticket for 16 mph over the speed limit while in Kentucky, he lives in Tennessee. Will he get points on his CDL license?

The Tennessee CDL handbook states that all states are connected to a computerized system so they can share information about CDL drivers. The CDL handbook goes on to say that commercial drivers must notify the TN Department of Safety within 30 days if they are convicted of any traffic offense (except parking) occurring in any other state, other than Tennessee, regardless if you were driving a CMV or not. You can pick up the form by contacting the Department of Safety.

Tennesee should be informed of your husband's Kentucky speeding ticket by either him or through their computerized system. Whether Tennesee will assign points for this out of state speeding ticket the handbook did not say, so he will have to contact the TN Department of Safety to find out for certain.
