Car Insurance Question  I received a ticket in May 2000 for driving in excess of 100 mph and was charged 2 points. The ticket was under violation code 22348-B. How long will it stay on my driving record?

From the violation code of 22348-B, it appears that your ticket for driving in excess of 100 miles per hour was received in California. This violation code for speeding over 100 mph is common codes CA uses in negligent operator citations.

The length of time that points stay on your driving record in California depends on the severity of the offense. Most points, for things such as an illegal turn, not making a complete stop, driving over the speed limit, etc, and/or accidents stay on your motor vehicle driver record for 3 years. This would appear on your state driving record for 3 years, however companies can pull information for up to 7 years for underwriting purposes.

Points for more serious offenses, such as hit and runs or DUI, will stay on your record for a longer period or time according to the CA Department of Motor Vehicles.
