I drive a performance sedan as my daily driver. I also like to autocross and do lapping days and high performance driving schools on road courses. I assume that my current insurance policy does not cover my car if it gets damaged while on a track. How can I get insurance coverage for non-timed track events?

You will need to call your current auto insurance provider to find out for certain if you are covered or not for on track events, whether timed or not. It is our understanding that some insurance company's underwriter divisions do allow coverage to extend to drivers education events if there is no competition, racing or timing.

Other insurance companies have specific exclusions for track events or incidents. If your present insurance company does not provide coverage on your performance vehicle for the various track events which you take part in, you should look for a specialized insurance company that will.

There are a few insurance companies that specialize in Drivers Education (DE) track events, such as americancollectorsins.com. This type of insurance may not cover autocross so hopefully when participating in autocross the directors will have insurance you can purchase for the event. This coverage is usually done through insurance companies such as K&K Insurance.
