It can be difficult if not impossible to carry insurance while your license is revoked. Once an insurance company finds out that your license is suspended or revoked your policy typically is canceled. If there is another individual that has registered or co-owns the car with you, they might be able to get insurance in their name for the vehicle until your license is reinstated. If not than the finance company can get "force" insurance, where they take out insurance on the vehicle to protect their asset (the car) but it might not be enough to cover others driving the vehicle. If you are able to get a restricted license, while still serving your penalty for the DUI, than an insurance company will normally be able to insure you and your vehicle. To have a friend be insured to drive your car might be possible through certain insurance companies. We work with one that in some states allows someone to insure the vehicle without having insurable interest in it. See if this is possible in your case by getting a free car insurance quote.
