I got a speeding ticket while driving my motorcycle in Maryland. I have my motorcycle insured with a different insurance company than my other vehicles. If I receive points from this motorcycle speeding ticket, will it effect my insurance rates on my other vehicles? I live and have everything insured in MD.

Violations that occur on your motorcycle or while in your car are both recorded onto your state's driving history. Since all of these offenses are part of the state's motor vehicle report, each insurance provider, the one for your motorcycle and the one for your cars, will be able to see and review the MVR periodically and update your rates accordingly.

So it is not the points you receive from the speeding ticket while on your motorcycle that could affect all your insurance rates, but instead the speeding violation on your MVR.

If your motorcycle or car insurance rates go up due to the speeding ticket, start doing insurance comparison shopping here with us.

You can get a motorcycle insurance quote with an industry leader, Safeco, by following this link or by calling 1-800-936-0356.
