Georgia is not part of the Drivers License Compact, which Florida is a member of, but the GA Driver's services has decided it will still send a licensed driver's home state information on a ticket the driver received in Georgia.

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Services (HSMV) states that if you receive a traffic ticket out of state and they receive information on it, the HSMV will then add the violation to your FL record. You will also receive points as if the offense occurred in Florida.

If you do not pay the ticket, Georgia's court or DMV will likely tell the FL HSMV. Any unpaid ticket reported by another state to the HSMV will result in the suspension of your Florida license. To get your license reinstated you will have to pay a fee as well as present proof to the HSMV that the out of state ticket has been taken care of properly.

If you are uncertain if the citation you received is a ticket to pay or a warning, contact the entity listed on it. It will likely be the clerk of the court who will be able to tell you how to pay or otherwise take care of the citation.
