If I go to my local Georgia DMV will they be able to provide me with a copy of my GA driving record? Also, will they know if I have outstanding traffic tickets or warrants from my previous residence in Florida, 2 years ago?

The Georgia Department of Driver Services does allow you to obtain a copy of your GA driving record. You can download a non-certified copy of your driving record (MVR) through the DDS website or go into a DDS Customer Service Center. The cost is $5.00 for a 3 year record and $7.00 for a 7 year record.

For downloading your driving history online you will need your driver's license number, date of birth and a password (you can request this online) plus pay a fee. This is a non-certified copy of your driving history and cannot be transformed into a certified copy. After you purchase it, the MVR will be available for viewing or downloading for up to 30 days. It can only be viewed or downloaded online and requires the Adobe Acrobat Reader to see it.

A GA driving record can also be purchased in person at a DDS office with proper identification. A third option is to obtain a copy of your MVR via mail. You can do so by submitting a notarized letter requesting either the 3 or 7 year MVR and give other information that the DDS will need to process your request. Check with the GA DDS to find out more if you want to use this option.

Though Georgia is not a member of the Drivers License Compact, which has members report tickets by motorists back to the home state of the licensed driver, the state is a member of the Non-Resident Violator Compact. This Compact requires member states to suspend the drivers license of those who get tickets for moving violation in other states and fails to take care of them.

Since GA is a member of this Compact, it is likely that they have been or will be informed by Florida of your outstanding tickets. If these FL tickets have not yet affected your GA license, you might want to take care of them before they do.

Comment Update: You can follow the same procedures to get a driving record, it is public record.
