Wisconsin is not a member of the Drivers License Compact (DLC) while your home state of Florida is. This Compact requires member states to exchange information regarding tickets received out of state back to the state in which the motorist was licensed.
Even though Wisconsin is not a member of the DLC their Department of Transportation will still share and exchange information with other state's courts and Department of Motor Vehicles regarding traffic violations. Wisconsin records out of state traffic convictions on a WI driver's record but does not assess points.
In Florida, if a motorist with a Florida license receives a ticket in another state, once the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (HSMV) is informed by the other state the violation is added to the driver's record.
THE HSMV notes that the driver will receive points on their license if the ticket is a point-accessible violation according to Florida Statute 322.27(3). Florida law does not allow any school or program to remove points for a ticket received in another state either.
So the Wisconsin speeding ticket will be placed on your Florida driving record and be assigned points. Once the out of state citation conviction is recorded on your driving history, your insurance company will be able to see it the next time they pull your MVR. It then will depend upon your insurance company's rating system if this ticket will affect your rates or not.
Find out about your insurance carrier's rating system by either contacting your agent and requesting information on it or by contacting Florida's insurance regulatory body with whom insurance companies must file their rates with.
