Car Insurance Question  How long does an insurance company have to give you under your rental car coverage if they declare your car a total loss? The policy states 30 days while vehicle is being repaired but does not address a time frame if deemed total loss.

Because the vehicle is a total loss there shouldn't be any exceptions unless the total loss was not covered by your physical damage coverage.

Rental Reimbursement coverage provides a specified amount for you to rent a vehicle while your covered auto is being repaired or replaced after it has been damaged because of a loss covered under comprehensive or collision.

There are a few items to note.

  • Coverage is limited to the amount you specified when purchasing Rental Car Reimbursement coverage. For example, $25 a day up to a total of $450.
  • It does not provide coverage for mechanical repairs that result from mechanical breakdown that are not related to a comprehensive or collision loss.
  • It will not cover you for rental car reimbursement if the total loss was not covered by your collision and/or comprhensive coverate.

Good luck, let us know if we can help you in any way.
