I have a motorcycle registered and insured in my name. Would my friend be able to drive it on the street if he is not listed as a driver?

State laws differ regarding motorcycles, especially concerning bike insurance. Some states may require that each rider has insurance while other states may mandate just that the vehicle is insured. In the latter states it is likely that the insurance would cover your friend, just as if the friend was borrowing a different motor vehicle, like you car.

So check with your state's Department of Motor Vehicles or with the Insurance Regulator to find out about the state's motorcycle insurance laws. Beyond this information you can check with your insurance company. Terms of policies and insurance carrier's guidelines can differ so check with your insurance provider to see if they say your bike coverage extends to others that you give permission to ride your motorcycle.
