We had a car stolen. Our insurance company has decided not to pay the claim. How much will our Gap insurance pay?

You will need to contact your GAP insurance company to find out how much, if anything, they will pay on a GAP claim for your stolen vehicle. If your insurance company is denying your comprehensive claim on the stolen vehicle then the GAP insurance company may also deny your claim.

Typically GAP insurance pays the difference between what your physical damage coverage paid and the outstanding lease or loan balance. If your primary insurance provider is not paying actual cash value for the stolen vehicle on your physical damage claim then it is unlikely that GAP insurance would pay out either.

car insurance commentsI file gap claims for my job everyday even if there is no insurance coverage at the time of loss, pretty much with all gap companies the claims need to be filed within 90 days of the total loss, they also want a copy of the police report, declaration page (insurance policy) or insurance denial letter in place of the declaration page, a copy of the lien holders payment history, the amounts of the credit life/disability and extented warranty refunds or copies of the checks it must be canceled through the dealership process takes 4-6 weeks, a copy of the insurance check if there is one, a copy of your gap/loan contracts, book out sheet (options vehicle had) buyers order these are all with your original loan contract. You should fax and mail the gap claim because a lot of gap companies claim "to never receive any documents". Its also important to know that gap companies do not pay for extensions, fees, prior damages, etc.
