Your home state of New Jersey and the state in which you received the speeding ticket, Florida, are both part of the Drivers License Compact. This means that Florida will report back to your licensing state of NJ information regarding the violation and your conviction (if you plead guilty and pay the fine).
Once the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission receives the citation information from Florida they will add the offense to your NJ driving record. Points will also be assessed, but according to the NJ MVC they only assign 2 points for out of state moving violations.
The points on your driver's license is not what will affect your insurance, it is the actual speeding violation noted on your NJ driving record. Whether this one out of state speeding ticket will affect your auto insurance rates depends upon your insurance provider's rating system. To find out about your specific insurance company's rating system, contact your insurance agent or New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance the state agency that rates must be filed with.
