Car Insurance Question  What happens if two people with different last names are on the same policy and one moves away but lives in the same town 1/2 a mile away. Can the person that has moved away request new insurance cards and policy be sent to the address he or she moved to?

The person that moved away from the address that is listed on the auto insurance policy will need to contact the insurance company to find out if they can continue to stay on the current policy. If they are able to stay on the policy then at that time he or she could request new insurance cards be sent to the new address.

More than likely the person that moved will need to start up their own policy for their new residence since they are no longer in the same household as the former policy has listed. Either way the person that moved should inform the insurance company of the change to make sure their vehicle is properly covered. If they do not report the change of address to the insurance company and later make a claim, the insurance company may say that the person misrepresented information by not informing them of the move and may be able to deny a claim.

If you have recently moved and need an auto insurance policy separate from your last resident's members, start comparison shopping here with us by getting a car insurance quote.
