I came over from Germany to spend several weeks of vacation in the state of Oklahoma. I do own a German drivers license which allows me to drive on Oklahoman streets. How can I get an insurance on a vehicle that I did not rent, but that is owned by a friend?

While your valid foreign license from Germany allows you to drive within Oklahoma, and other states within the US, many insurance companies will require a US license in order to carry insurance on you or a vehicle for you. While specialty insurance companies may allow you to obtain auto insurance with your German license, the insurance providers we work with require that you obtain a US license within 30 days.

Since you are borrowing a car from a friend while on vacation in OK, you may see if your friend's insurance will allow you to be covered under their current policy or if you can be added as a driver during the time that you are in visiting. If this is possible it would likely be the easiest way in which to acquire insurance coverage for you on your friend's automobile.
