Car Insurance Question  I was run off to the side of the road by a car while on my bicycle and I hit a parked car. The car that nearly ran me over sped off. My wife and I don't have a car so we don't have auto insurance. The damage to the parked car was minimal but I was given a $740 estimate to fix the tail light cover. Am I responsible for paying all of this damage even if my alternative was being hit by a moving car?

State laws differ so you may want to check with a lawyer to find out what your total liability is in this current situation. Unfortunately if you are unable to find the person that ran you off the road or if you don't have any witnesses then likely you could ultimately be held responsible for the damages caused when you hit the vehicle.

Since you do not own cars and thus do not have auto insurance, you may want to check with your homeowner's or renter's insurance to see if the terms of your policy will pay for the damages you caused to the parked car.
