I am in the process of a divorce. The vehicle I'm driving is in my soon-to-be ex-wife's name. I recently totaled the car. The insurance policy is in my name. Who will get the insurance check?

You will need to contact the claims adjuster with your insurance company to find out how the settlement check for your totaled vehicle will be written. Insurance companies differ on how checks are made out depending on such things as the title holder, the policyholder and if there is a lien holder on the vehicle.

Once you have made your collision claim with your insurance company and the actual cash value of your totaled vehicle is determined then your insurance provider should be able to give you information on the settlement amount and how a check will be made out.
