My husband and I are currently living at separate residence, but we are not legally separated. Is it a law in the state of SC that we have to have a policy together?

We don't know of any law that makes this a requirement in South Carolina.

Most insurance companies will require each of you to be listed on the policy (or excluded), if you get separate policies. This is to protect the insurance company, in case of a claim.

Please check with your insurance company to see if you are required to have a single policy or contact the SC Department of Insurance.
