I had a one state's drivers licence and now I live in another and have this states drivers licence so since my drivers licence # has changed would an insurance company see all the old violations? (a lot of people I know don't tell there insurance companies about there tickets and since they're in the same boat they're getting great rates..? should this really work?)

It really does depend on which state you lived in and where you moved to. A majority of the states are members of the Driver License Compact (DLC) which requires them to share driving records and any traffic violations. So if you moved between two states that are part of the DLC, then it is likely that your insurance will be able to see your old violations.

Additionally withholding information from your insurance company can void your insurance policy and in most states it could be considered insurance fraud.
