If your eighteen year old son is already on your insurance policy or has a car insurance of his own, the insurance provider may allow the current policy to stay in effect through his suspension since it is only for a short period of time. If he does not currently have auto insurance or his insurance company has dropped him due to the suspension, or bad driving record with the several tickets on it, then it may be difficult to obtain insurance during his suspension period.
Every state has different rules and each company has different guidelines. In some states with some carriers we can offer you a policy that will provide 45 days for you to obtain a valid license.
You will need to get a quote and see if we have a carrier that will cover you with a suspend license or with higher points. In those states where we can offer coverage a rate will be available. Otherwise, you will be redirected to some other carriers. If we can't help you, we have will have a link to NetQuote, they can help you find a local agent that will help you get coverage with a suspension and/or significant points.
Since insurance companies guidelines differ your son may need to contact various insurers and shop for insurance providers that will fulfill his needs if the ones we work with do not offer him the coverages he needs. If he cannot find a company to insure him, due to the suspension or being a high risk, he can try contacting the Alabama Department of Insurance.
State insurance departments regularly publish written information valuable to the auto insurance consumer. They may have additional consumer guides that outline your specific rights and responsibilities under your state's insurance laws and regulations. They also may publish premium comparison reports for your use in shopping for insurance.
