Insurance laws and insurance company guidelines differ but it is doubtful that you friend's insurance would have to cover your motorcycle. Typically insurance follows a vehicle first and driver second.
If the vehicle does not have insurance on it, the driver's insurance may extend to an accident that occurred on the uninsured bike but normally it would be liability that would be extended and not necessarily physical damage coverage such as collision, which you would need to make a claim for the damages your friend caused to your motorcycle.
To find out if any part of your friend's insurance will cover the accident he was in while operating your bike, have you and/or your friend contact his insurance agent to find out about placing a claim for the wreck. The agent or claims adjuster from his insurance provider should be able to inform you what, if anything, they will cover.
