You did not mention a State and since each State has their own process and reasons for license plates being suspended or revoked you will need to contact your state's Department of Motor Vehicles, or like agency that is requiring you to turn in your tags, to find out when your revocation begins.

You also should find out from the DMV how long the plates are revoked for and when you can get them returned to you. If you lost your plates due to being without car insurance, or a lapse in insurance, then you will likely be required to show proof of insurance to get your plates back.
