I am insured, but I want to know if anyone's auto insurance is still valid when you drive out on a frozen lake in winter? Does it cease to have coverage once you leave land?

Insurance company guidelines differ so to find out if an auto insurance policy is still valid and will pay out a physical damage (collision or comprehensive) claim if you driven onto a frozen lake, you would have to check with your specific insurance provider.

Typically, this would be covered under an auto policy.

Some insurance carriers may cover this event while others may see it as negligent driving.
