Someone parked their car in my driveway a few feet behind my garage door. I pull my SUV out of the garage at night, and hit their car causing quite a bit of damage to their bumper. With the slope and how closely they parked their car, there was absolutely no way I could have seen the car. The car was parked, so I'm wondering if I'm at fault since I backed into the car even though for some strange reason they parked in my driveway right behind my garage door?

State laws differ as to fault and to negligence but in general you are likely to be found at fault since you backed into the vehicle. When a motorist backs or reverses into anther vehicle that driver is normally found at fault for not giving proper lookout.

To find out how the insurance companies involved will find fault, since in some states it can be divided up by each person’s perceived negligence i.e. 60/40, contact your insurance agent to place a claim.
