Car Insurance Question  I recently got married and my husband is still on his parents car insurance. He wants to keep his insurance the way it is, but I was wondering if he is even allowed to do that now that we are married.

Congratulations on your recent nuptials. Since you are now married it is most likely that your husband no longer lives with his parents. If this is the case then normally the parent’s insurance would not want to cover your husband any longer since he lives in his own separate resident and not in the same household as his parents.

Each state and insurance company has their own rules and guidelines regarding auto insurance so your husband or his parents will need to find out for certain if he can be kept on their insurance policy.

You and your husband will probably need to get your own car insurance policy together for your household. If his parents are the owners of his car then he may need to be added to the title of his car so that he can register and get insurance on it instead of having his parents continue to do so.
