Car Insurance Question  If I get a speeding ticket in Florida, will it go on my driving record in California and will my insurance rates rise?

Yes, your speeding ticket from Florida will go on your California driving record and be assigned 1 point. This is because your home state of CA as well as the state of FL are both members of the Drivers License Compact (DLC) which requires member states to report tickets bank to the licensing state of the motorist.

If your insurance rates will rise due to this out of state ticket will depend upon your insurance company’s rating system. If this is your first traffic ticket then you may only see a loss of a safe driver discount. To find out about your insurance carrier’s rating system ask your agent or contact the CA Department of Insurance with whom rates must be filed with.
