Car Insurance Question  I have had lettering put on my truck as advertisement for my son`s painting business. I have been told it could affect my rates. Is that true or not?

I cannot tell you for certain if what you have done to your vehicle will affect your rates since it will depend upon the guidelines of your insurance carrier. Be aware that your insurance company may not cover your truck for a personal auto insurance policy due to the lettering that advertises your son's painting business.

That would be the standard affect...the fact that you have to buy a business auto policy or business use policy instead of a personal auto policy.

In general, vehicles with advertising on them require a commercial auto policy. You will need to check with your insurance company to see how they want to cover your truck in the current state it is, as a personal auto or business/commercial truck. If changes need to be made to your policy, such as changing it over to a commercial policy, then likely your rates will be effected. To find out for certain contact your insurance agent and discuss this issue.
