The penalty for driving without insurance or a valid license and causing an accident varies from state to state. The penalties can include fines, jail time, community service, vehicle impoundment, license and registration suspension to name a few. There are states where they will do a combination of these punishments.
The consequences can be far more serious if you are involved in an accident and do not have insurance. You may have to comply with the financial responsibility laws (SR22, SR22s, SR16) including having to pay for any injuries or damages out of your own pocket.
Driving without a license is also a considered a serious offense in most states. The penalties again differ by state laws but normally can include things such as fines, jail time and vehicle impoundment.
These types of violations as a minor may allow your state's licensing department to delay your driver's license application from going through once you do apply. Also these offenses will likely go on your driving record. Even being a minor without a license does not stop your state from starting a driving history to record these offenses.
If you were cited for these actions, to find out for certain what your penalties are try contacting the court listed on your ticket and/or your state's Department of Motor Vehicles.
