We are sorry to hear about your situation. It is never fun to have vehicle damage or deal with added stress around the holiday season.
Underinsured Motorist Property Damage (UNPD) covers when property damage is sustained by an insured and the negligent operator possesses insurance, but the limits of liability carried by the negligent driver are not sufficient to cover the damages.
If you don’t have Collision coverage, Underinsured Motorist Property Damage coverage pays up to a certain amount for repairs to the insured car (some states have limits at $3500, some are lower and some are higher). If you do have Collision coverage, Underinsured Motorist Property Damage coverage only pays your Collision deductible (in some states).
Your UNPD coverage would not play a part in this claim due to the fact that you are unaware of whom hit you, due to the damage coming from a hit and run, thus you cannot prove to your insurance company that the person was underinsured. If instead you had uninsured motorist property damage (UMPD) that allowed for hit and run claims then it may have been used to make a claim for your damages.
So it would appear that for the damages to rear bumper and fender you will need to place a claim through your collision coverage and pay the associated deductible amount.
