With only the state required liability insurance of property damage and bodily injury a cracked windshield on your own vehicle would not be covered by your car insurance. Liability insurance pays for damages you have caused to others.
Bodily Injury covers other people's bodily injuries or death for which you are responsible. Claims for bodily injury may be for such things as medical bills, loss of income or pain and suffering. Bodily injury liability covers injury to people, not your vehicle.
Property Damage covers you if your car damages someone else's property. Usually it is their car, but it could be a fence, a house or any other property damaged in an accident. Coverage is limited to the terms and conditions contained in the policy.
Physical damage comprehensive coverage is what in most states covers any glass breakage, including the repair or replacement of a cracked windshield. In most states a deductible will apply but there are some states such as Florida where the deductible is waived by a state statute if you need to get your front windshield repaired or replaced. Or a state like Massachusetts where if you have comprehensive insurance you are covered for the full amount of the loss (your selected deductible for comprehensive coverage does not apply) for a windshield, unless you opted for a $100 deductible for glass breakage.
