In Ohio going 1 to 5 mph over a speed limit below 55 mph is a 0 point offense. Going 15 mph over a speed limit of 55 mph or above is a 2 point offense. If she is attending court for this latter offense she will need to call the clerk of the courts to find out for certain what her punishment may be and see if a suspended license is one possibility.
Since your daughter is 17 she must still be part of the graduated drivers licensing program. According to the Ohio Driver's manual in Stage 1 of the Graduated Drivers License system the young driver must remain traffic-offense and alcohol-offense free in order to move up to next stage and that the permits appearance is distinctive from other driver licenses.
If she is in Stage 2 with an Intermediate/Provisional/Probationary license then it is requited that she as a driver remain traffic-offense and alcohol offense free for 12 months in order to obtain a full license (which is stage 3 of the GDL system and has a minimum age requirement of 18).
Temporary permit holders and probationary license holders will be suspended for one year for accruing 3 moving violations before age 18. Temporary permit holders and probationary license holders may be suspended for six months if convicted of certain traffic-related violations before age 18.
Temporary permit holders and probationary license holders who are convicted of certain alcohol-related violations (4511.11 D.U.I.) before age 18 will be suspended for six months. If the offender is not yet 15½, the offender will not be eligible for a temporary permit until the age of 16.
