Standard Uninsured Motorist coverage pays for bodily injury only. UM property damage coverage is available in 26 states and the District of Columbia but not in Florida. If if the person with the parked car is from Florida and thus carries Florida insurance she or he would not be able to have UMPD on their vehicle.
The uninsured motorist offered in Florida is the standard UMBI for bodily injury. So while the car owner may not be able to place a claim against their UM policy, if they have collision coverage on their vehicle they could place a claim but that means they will have to pay a deductible.
If the car owner places a claim for the damages with their insurer, that insurance company could try to recoup the money they pay out by subrogating with the at-fault party. So even if the car owner went through their insurance policy the at -fault motorcycle rider could still end up being held responsible and paying for the damages.
