There is not a stated age in the Florida statutes of how old one must be to carry auto insurance. If you are a minor though and want insurance you will need a parent or guardian to sign on the insurance contract with you.
We were unable to find an age restriction for West Virginia regarding how old you needed to be to purchase auto insurance in this state. You may want to check with the West Virginia Insurance Commissioner or DMV though to find out for certain if WV requires you to be a certain age in order to carry car insurance.
As stated early an insurance carrier will require any minor to have a parent or guardian sign on an insurance policy if you are getting it on your own and are a minor. An insurance policy is a legal contract between you and your insurer. A minor can not enter into a legal contact. That is why your parent or legal guardian would need to sign the documents with you.
An insurance company will also require you to have a driver's license so you cannot be below the licensing age of either state and obtain auto insurance.
