Car Insurance Question  My daughter is 32 yrs old. She has let her auto insurance lapse. She have been cancelled for non-payment, not renewed, etc over the past years. Now, she can't seem to find an insurance company to insure her auto in the state of GA. How can she get auto insurance?

Due to your daughter having auto insurance issues previously (non-payment, lapse in coverage, etc) she is considered a high risk driver. For drivers such as your daughter that are unable to find an insurance company in the voluntary market that will insure them, most states have high risk insurers that will cover these types of motorists.

High risk drivers in GA typically have to go the Georgia Automobile Insurance Plan (GAAIP). It was created in 1949 to provide automobile insurance coverage to eligible high risk motorist who seek coverage and are unable to obtain such coverage through the voluntary market.

Eligible Georgia Automobile Insurance Plan risks are shared among companies writing automobile insurance in the state of Georgia. To find out who these insurers are in Georgia and how your daughter can get car insurance in Georgia through the GAAIP so that she can insure and driver her vehicle contact the Georgia Insurance Commissioner.
