Car Insurance Question  Do you have to have a Florida Drivers license to get car insurance on a Florida Registered vehicle?

Insurance companies’ guidelines differ but most will allow you to get insurance on your Florida registered vehicle without having a Florida license. Normally if you live in Florida though you will want, and be required by Florida statutes, to obtain a Florida license.

It is understood there are situations in which you will have a car registered in Florida but carry an out of state driver's license. These situations could include such circumstances as a college student who has bought a car in FL but has a license from their home state or a person who buys a car to keep at their Florida vacation home while keeping their license from their permanent state of residence.
