Car Insurance Question  I was driving my friends car with her in the passenger seat and I got into a minor accident. I had a fender bender while the other car had mere scratches. Who is at "fault" and will my insurance be affected?

Without knowing the specific details of the accident in which you were in we are unable to tell you who would be found at fault.

If you are found at fault then it would be your friend's insurance that would be primary and then your insurance would be secondary. It there was an accident report taken by the police it would go on your MVR sine you were the driver.

As for insurance rates being affected both you, the driver, and the car owner could be affected by this accident. If the owner's auto insurance carrier pays out a claim then this would go on your friend's claims history and thus could affect their future car insurance premiums.

If this accident is placed on your driving history where your insurance company would see it next time they pulled your MVR then your rates may also be affected. By how much would depend upon your insurance provider's rating system.
