I had a cracked oil pan that subsequently caused my engine to seize due to lack of oil. I think my car may have been vandalized or mishandled by a valet, will my insurance cover this?

If you have comprehensive coverage as part of your auto insurance physical damage coverages then you can check with your agent to see if this will be covered or not.

If you can show that the oil pan damage was due to vandalism then your comprehensive coverage should cover it. If a valet mishandled your vehicle you may need to go after the company the valet works for, but you would need to prove he did the damage.

If it is found that the oil pan cracked due to wear and tear or other mechanical issues and not outside damage then normally this would not be covered by your car insurance policy. Check with your insurance agent to see if placing a claim is possible in your situation.
