Car Insurance Question  When I tried to renew my license in Michigan I found I have 2 holds in Massachusetts and Minnesota. When I checked with these 2 states, both records are over 10 years old, The one from MA is in 1992, and the one in MN is 1996. Why don't they clear automatically after so long? How can I request to clear the record?

You did not mention the reason behind the holds that Massachusetts and Minnesota had on your license. If the holds are there due to unpaid tickets then to reconcile the situation you will need to contact each state and pay the fines or other penalties so that the holds can be removed.

Tickets from other states do not automatically clear off or drop off your record after a certain amount of time if you have not taken care of them. Citations will remain until they are taken care of with the state that has charged you with a violation of their law.

Once you have taken care of the issues behind the holds on your Michigan driver's license then you should be able to check with the MI driver's services to make sure that the items are cleared off of your record. You may need to show proof to the DMV the MA and MN issues have been taken care of so that the items can be dropped from your driving record.
