Someone drove into the building I work in after he had a stroke. Are the damages in this type of situation typically covered by his automobile insurance?

Yes, typically if someone has an accident that results in them damaging property, such as your workplace building, it would covered by their auto insurance.

Property damage liability insurance covers a policyholder if their car damages someone else's property. Usually it is a car, but it could be a fence, a house or any other property damaged in an accident. It also provides the motorist with legal defense if another party files a lawsuit against them.

If though the stroke was due to a pre-existing medical condition that the driver did not inform his insurance company about there could be a possibility that his insurance company would not cover the claim for the damages to the building.
