If I have liability insurance coverage on my automobile and was involved in an accident and the other auto didn't have insurance, would my insurance pay for the damages to my auto?

No, your liability insurance would not cover the damages to your vehicle in a situation such as this. Liability auto insurance covers others that you may have hurt or damaged in an accident, not you or your vehicle. Property damage liability specifically pays for damage (up to the limit of the policy) that you cause to another person’s property through the use of a covered automobile.

For your insurance to pay for damages your vehicle sustained in an accident with an uninsured vehicle you would to have either collision coverage or uninsured motorist property damage.

If you do not have these coverages then you may want to seek legal advise to see if you should file a lawsuit against the at fault party. If you do so then you would want to seek a judgment against that person for the cost of the repairs to your vehicle caused by this accident.
