Car Insurance Question  If you have a full coverage policy on your vehicle, would a 17-year-old be covered if something should happen?

If you have full coverage on your vehicle (meaning liability and physical damage coverages) then a 17 year old may be covered. We cannot say for certain if the teen would be covered without knowing the terms and exclusions listed on your policy and details about the teenager.

For example if the 17 teen year old is a household member of yours then likely your policy, and insurance company, require you to inform them of this teen being licensed and add him or her to the policy as a driver so that proper coverage would be on that person.

If the teen is not a member of your household you would need to read through the terms of your policy and speak to your insurance agent to make certain he or she would be covered. Some policies have exclusions for drivers under a certain age (such as under 25) or other exclusions that would limit the coverage on those that may borrow your vehicle.

To find out for certain if your current insurance coverages would extend to this 17 year old, check with your auto insurance agent. If he or she is not covered and needs to get car insurance, they can start here by getting an affordable auto insurance quote.
