If I was involved in an accident with an out of state driver and on the police report it had their insurance code, how could I find out what insurance company that code refers to? Where do I call?

You should be able to contact either the police department where the police report is filed or your state insurance regulator to find out what the insurance code on the police report stands for.

Many state insurance regulators have insurance companies' codes listed on their website or can give you information on a code listed on a police report if you call their consumer hotline.

If neither of these avenues works you may want to see if your insurance agent can look up the code for you.
