You will need to check with your agent and read over your uninsured motorist property damage (UMPD) portion of the policy to see if the hit and run will be covered.
Normally UMPD will cover damages to your vehicle by a motorist that is found to be uninsured or by a hit and run driver. Though there are some states and insurance companies that have very specific requirements with regards to UMPD claims from hit and run drivers, such as having a witness, a police report, etc.
To find out what your insurance company requires of you to make a claim through your uninsured motorist property damage speak to your insurance agent or claims adjuster assigned to your claim. For state insurance laws regarding this type of claim you can contact the consumer division of the state's insurance regulator.
