According to the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario, drivers convicted of a driving related offence in the State of New York, the State of Michigan or any Canadian province or territory, will have home jurisdictional penalties such as demerit points and/or suspensions applied to their Ontario driver record as if the offence occurred in Ontario. In Ontario speeding is worth 3, 4 or 6 demerit points.

Since Illinois is not mentioned here it would appear that Ontario and IL do not currently have a reciprocal agreement but you may want to contact the MTO directly to make certain this out of country speeding ticket will not be placed on your driving record or have demerit points assessed for it.

If it is placed on your driving record then your Canadian auto insurance carrier could see it and thus it could affect your rates.
