Car Insurance Question  I recently skidded on black ice and my car was totaled. I am awaiting the settlement offer by my Insurance Co. In the meantime, my insurance premium of $181.20 is due on this same car on March 20, 2007. Should I pay this?

You should discuss this matter with your insurance agent since different insurance company's have different guidelines regarding this type of situation. I would recommend keeping your insurance on this vehicle current and paid for until the claim has been fully settled.

After a claim, it is usually less expensive to wait and replace the coverage on a vehicle than it is to cancel (or allow it to cancel for non-payment) and then start a new policy.

Instead of having a lapse in insurance coverage by not paying your next month's premium it is normally better to pay for insurance on the wrecked car. If you end up overpaying on your policy you can discuss with your agent about getting a refund or moving the insurance coverage onto the new car you acquire to replace the one totaled out.
