In Los Angeles, California, I received two speeding tickets. One in July and one in August for going 75mph and 80mph. I was able to go for traffic school for the former. Am I able to go for traffic school for the latter? I heard there is a 12hr traffic class I could take.

We are unaware of a 12 hour traffic school you could take in order to take off a speeding ticket that you were previously convicted of in California.

In CA you usually need to request of the court permission to take traffic school at the time you pay for your ticket. Though rules may differ depending upon the county and jurisdiction you received the citation in general in the State of California you must not have attended traffic school on a prior citation issued within 18 months of the issue date of your present citation in order to be eligible for traffic school.

Since you have already paid the ticket (thus plead guilty and were convicted) last August and took traffic school within the last 18 months (for the first speeding ticket)we do not believe you could now take a driving course to dismiss or remove the second speeding ticket you received.

You can check with the court listed on the citation or the California department of motor vehicles though to see if there is a traffic school that we are unaware of that you could take for this second speeding citation you received last year.

car insurance commentsYES! There is a way to go to traffic school more than once within an 18 month period, I know because I've done it twice before, hence, after 8 tickets, my license has not been revoked because of this "second offense" traffic school opportunity. You have to schedule an arraignment and request it directly from the judge. The difference with the "second offense" traffic school is that, unlike the first violation and traffic school chance you get, the second violation WILL STILL go on your driving record however the DMV will NOT charge a point on your driving record like they normally would with a violation. So there you have it, YES THERE IS A 12-HOUR SECOND OFFENSE BREAK FROM THE COURT!
