If I am a Designated Driver, and I drive someone else's car and I'm in an accident, does my insurance cover this or does the vehicle owner's insurance cover this? Thank you!

In situations where you are in an accident while driving someone else's vehicle due to borrowing a friend's car or being the designated driver for an outing normally the car owner's auto insurance would be primary and your insurance as the driver would be secondary.

This means the car owner's insurance would be used first and if their limits were exceeded then your liability insurance would be used as excess.

If you are using someone else's vehicle as a designated driver then the owner of the vehicle should check to make sure their insurance policy coverages would be extended to you in case of an accident.
