If I received a speeding ticket in Alabama, and Georgia is not part of the DLC, will the points be added onto my Georgia license?

You are correct, Georgia does not take part in the Drivers License Compact (DLC) which many other state, including Alabama is a member of. Georgia though does have other agreements with states to exchange information regarding traffic tickets their licensed drivers acquire out of state.

Sources say that Georgia does not post 14 mph or under speeding tickets on your GA driving record and the GA violation points list does not mention points for speeding citations of under 14 mph either so if your ticket in AL was for under 15 mph then likely points would not be applied. You may want to check with the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) to make certain this is still true since state laws can change.

It may be that this out of state violation will be placed on your Georgia record but not assigned points, again the DDS should be able to tell you exactly how they will deal the Alabama speeding ticket and your driving record. You can contact them at (678) 413-8400 or outside of Atlanta at 1-866-754-3687.
